Volvo XC60 Recognized as Best Utility Vehicle

The North American International Auto Show is one of the largest meetings of the world’s best automotive and technology engineers and leaders. Held in Detroit, it sets a stage to debut brand-defining vehicles and this year marked its twelfth anniversary, bursting with even more concepts and industry-shaping announcements than in years past.

Three prestigious awards are up for grabs each year: Best Car, Best Truck, and Best Utility Vehicle. A panel of 60 American and Canadian journalist jurors were given 10 points to award in each of the three categories. The panel considered a variety of attributes to decide…

Multiple Battery Sizes for Volvo EVs

Volvo has something in the works to meet the needs of all consumers. When their first electric car launches in 2019 it will be a compact model sporting a 100 kilowatt-hour battery and offering over 250 miles of range. But what’s most intriguing is that for each EV to follow, multiple battery sizes will be offered.

“For each electric car, we will typically have at least two different battery sizes on offer,” Volvo R&D boss Henrik Green stated in a recent interview to Auto Express. “The base variant will be more cost-efficient, but with a slightly limited range…

Why Changing Your Oil Every 3,000 Miles Isn't The Best Advice Anymore

Auto service advice changes over the years whether it's from your parents, friends or even a mechanic you've gotten to know, and in some cases, they may be leading you wrong. One such case includes changing your oil which you probably always heard you should do every 3,000 miles. But with today's vehicles, that's no longer the best advice.

Refer To Your Owners Manual And Not The 3000-Mile Axiom

If your owner's manual doesn't say to change oil every 3,000 miles and has a longer interval, you should adhere to the manual…

Make the Right Choice and Buy Replacement Auto Parts at the Dealership

Buying parts for your vehicle should be easy, but too many people are getting these replacement parts at discount auto shops and wondering why they are going back time and time again to get it right. Stop by the dealership one time to get the parts you need the first time.

The parts you find at those independent parts stores tend to be cheaper for a reason; they are manufactured with inferior components that may or may not fit your vehicle perfectly. This means to spend less now but be back paying again and making the same repair in the…

Volvo Mitigating Turbo Lag

We’ve all experienced turbo lag. The delay between summoning acceleration from the car’s throttle and its (delayed) response from the engine. Volvo engineers have found a seemingly simple and effective solution for combating this challenge.

Volvo engines currently only offer four-cylinders. In order to achieve six-cylinder power, they have set their sights on turbochargers to achieve six-cylinder numbers from inline-four which can lead to significant turbo lag. But of course, leave it to Volvo to come up with clever solutions.

Technically, turbo lag can’t completely be eliminated. However, Volvo is, of course, coming up with some clever…
