Changing a Flat Tire in the Most Efficient Manner

Never try to change a tire while still in the way of oncoming traffic, ride the rim to a safe location. The car brake should be on and the car in park before changing the flat tire. Loosen the lugs on that flat tire only slightly, then slowly jack up the vehicle so the tire is barely off the ground. Remove the lugs now, then the tire, then replace with the spare tire.

Tighten the lugs on the spare tire enough so the tire is snug against the brake rotor. Once the tire is secure, lower the car jack so the tire comes in contact with the road. Tighten the lugs on the spare tire in a pattern similar to 1/3/5/2/4. Then you can put away the tools and flat tire in the trunk.

Be sure to visit our Volvo service department and keep up with tire rotation appointments.
