The 2018 Volvo V60 wagon is the leading example of Swedish design. Stepping out as Volvo's smallest wagon, it breaks out of the usual boxy mold, extending its roofline for a beautiful alternative to the compact luxury crossover. The 2018 model got no major changes but you can rest assured that you'll find the minor upgrades enjoyable in the V60.

There's something for everyone when it comes to the V60. The Cross Country trim takes a rugged approach, with an increased ride height, black fender extensions, skid plates, and 18-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the Polestar boasts an aerodynamic body kit, 20-inch alloy wheels, and exclusive exterior color choices.

One of the main reasons you may choose to go with a V60 over an S60 is because of cargo space. Because of the taller roofline, the V60 offers 28 cubic feet behind the rear seats, which is a whopping 16 more than in the S60. Front passengers have plenty of head and legroom, while the seats provide impeccable comfort for long trips.

Much like the exterior design, the interior cabin is simple and elegant. With an abundance of soft-touch plastics, well-placed control knobs, and a 7-inch screen for the Sensus infotainment system, the V60 continues its history of comfort and elegance.

Under the hood the V60 offers a nice selection of 4-cylinder engines. The base T5 is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder producing 240 horsepower; the T6 is a supercharged turbo 2.0-liter producing 302 horsepower; and the Polestar adds to the T6 engine for an output of 362 horsepower. All engines are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmissions. The fuel economy ranges from 23 combined mpg for the Polestar, to 39 mpg for the T5 with front-wheel-drive.

Safety features are abundant, as can be expected in any Volvo vehicle. All models get traction and stability control, whiplash protection, and Volvo's City Safety system, which can prevent/reduce the impact of a collision by automatically applying the brakes. Additional add-on features include: blind-spot monitoring, reversing camera with park assistance, automatic high beams, pedestrian detection, lane assistance, and adaptive cruise control. The 2017 model received a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and we have high expectations for the 2018 successor as well.
